School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is one of the founding Schools of the Nanyang Technological University. We are looking for a Research Assistant/ Research Associate to support fiber laser development. The successful candidate will assist the Reporting Officer in on-going research projects on fiber laser development. The role will focus on hollow-core fiber fabrication, fiber laser building, and laser performance characterization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate hollow-core optical fibers in the fiber drawing facility at NTU

  • Characterize drawn optical fibers and maintain a proper catalogue

  • Assemble fiber lasers and evaluate their performance

  • Maintain equipment and troubleshoot issues in the laser laboratory

  • Manage procurement of assets and consumables

  • Provide ad hoc administrative support as required

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment

  • Experience in optics experiments (preferred)

  • Experience with cleanroom operations and maintenance (preferred)
