Job Posting Details

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is a world-renowned, international research university in Hong Kong, ranked among the top universities in Asia. It is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty and has a range of family-friendly policies in place. The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) has comprehensive teaching, and basic and applied research programs. There are currently 30+ faculty members, about 450 undergraduate students and 450 postgraduate students in the department. Our research activities are well supported by multi-disciplinary research facilities and collaborations across the university.

The Department of MAE invites applications for multiple faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor). Priority will be given to the field of robotics and aerospace, but we welcome outstanding candidates in all research areas of the department, including but not limited to advanced materials, green and smart manufacturing, and sustainable energy systems.

Applicants should have a PhD in mechanical engineering or a related field, a strong record of scholarly publications, and recognized research and/or industrial experience.  Successful candidates are expected to establish an externally funded research program and contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching.

Appointment at all ranks (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor) will be considered. Competitive salaries commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. Ample opportunities for professional growth and development are available.  Fringe benefits including medical and dental benefits, annual leave and housing benefits, where applicable, will be provided. Appointment as Professor will be on substantive basis while appointment as Assistant/Associate Professor will normally be on a three-year contract. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
