Faculty Positions in Electrical and Computer Engineering
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at San Diego State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Embedded Machine Learning at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of August 2025. Qualified applicants must have expertise in embedded machine learning, including but not limited to the following areas: hardware accelerators for machine learning, low-power machine learning, resource-constrained machine learning, on-device machine learning, secure machine learning at the edge, specialized applications of embedded machine learning. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. The ability to collaborate with other research groups and establish or maintain connections with major industrial players in the broader embedded machine learning community will be considered an asset. The Department of Electrical Engineering at San Diego State University Imperial Valley Campus invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Lithium-based Energy Technologies at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of August 2025. Qualified applicants must have expertise in lithium-based energy systems that may include one or more of the following areas: renewable energy systems grid integration and its scientific foundations, including dynamics, controls, optimization, and learning, advanced power electronics for grid applications and transportation electrification, battery management systems and energy management systems for transportation and renewable energy storage applications, and big data analytics, forecasting, and artificial intelligence for renewable energy applications. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a strong externally funded research program, achieve excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise students, and participate in departmental governance.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is strongly committed to excellence in both research and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The department offers ABET-accredited B.S. degree programs in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, M.S. programs in Electrical Engineering (both online and on-campus) and Computer Engineering (both online and on-campus), and a joint Ph.D. program in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The ECE Department has over 30 full-time and part-time faculty members, including 3 IEEE Fellows. Research areas in the department include analog and digital integrated circuits, computer networks, embedded systems, signal processing and communication systems, antennas, RF and electromagnetic compatibility, machine learning and artificial intelligence, power electronics and smart grid.
