Position Summary:
The Biomedical Engineering Department (BME) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month/year instructor appointment as a University Lecturer beginning September 2025 (2025-26 academic year). Candidates should have background and teaching experience in the areas of biomechanics, biomaterials and/or tissue engineering. Potential courses taught by the incumbent would come from the core BME curriculum as well as specific topics such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and biotransport. The incumbent may also be asked to participate in department and university service activities. We seek candidates whose teaching, service, or other experience has prepared them to contribute to our core values in excellence, integrity, civility, social responsibility, communication and diversity.
The current search is focused on the level of University Lecturer, but appointment at the level of Teaching Professor may also be considered. This position comes without academic tenure.

Essential Functions:
The incumbent will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in biomedical engineering and related areas, as assigned by the department chair.
Additional Functions:
The incumbent will be expected to provide service to the department and university.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Applicants are expected to have a doctorate (typically Ph.D. of D.Sc.) from a reputable academic institution, in biomedical engineering, or closely related field.
- Applicants should share their instructional philosophy and demonstrate commitment to excellence in academic education.
- Previous instructional experience in biomedical engineering or closely related field is preferred.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
