  • Designing new thermoelectric materials and nanostructures. Waste heat (for example from car exhaust) could be converted directly into useful electricity through a phenomenon called thermoelectrics. My interest is to design a new Si-based nanostructure with high efficiency of thermoelectric energy conversion. Potential applications are in electric cars and in the thermal management of electronic devices.

    - heat transport across graphene interfaces. Graphene is a single atomic layer of crystalline carbon atoms, which could replace Si as the next generation electronic material. Heat dissipation from graphene devices depend on the thermal conductance of graphene interfaces. My interest is to study how heat is transported across graphene interfaces.
