Throughout his career, Dr. Bridge has focused on the failure analysis and characterization of materials used in aerospace applications to include fracture and fatigue of metals and ceramics, advanced composites development, cermet armor characterization, and testing of low density, high-temperature engine components. His current focus is on the thermal and mechanical characterization of wax/polymer binders used in synthetic granular composites (for sports surfaces). His research also includes studying the mechanisms of polymer adhesion and polymeric environmental degradation. Dr. Bridge collaborates with the Racetrack Surfaces Testing Laboratory in Orono, Maine and with Lab/Cor Materials laboratory in Seattle.
