Lisa Axe’s research interests include physical, chemical, and biological processes in environmental systems, which involves studying contaminant distribution mechanisms, natural and engineered treatment processes, and speciation using complementary tools. Current research includes studying biologically active filters using conventional filters and adsorbents as advanced treatment processes for emerging contaminants. In addition, her group is conducting a geochemistry study to better understand the surface chemistry of reactive mineral coatings and abiotic processes in a contaminated subsurface system.
