Dr. Hegde studies combustion and fluid dynamics phenomena with applications to waste management, water reclamation, and engine combustion efficiency. He currently serves as a US investigator on a collaborative NASA-CNES (French Space Agency) experiment on supercritical water being conducted on the International Space Station (ISS). He is also involved in researching autoignition phenomena in hydrothermal flames with NASA and Canadian researchers. Previous instances of his association with NASA include serving as Facility Scientist for the ISS Combustion Integrated Rack Facility, and serving as Co-Principal Investigator on the Transitional/Turbulent Gas Jet Diffusion Flame experiment on the Space Shuttle.
