Your Commitment
Reporting to the Head of the Department, you will be responsible for the development, delivery, and evaluation of a broad range of courses within the Mechanical Engineering manufacturing- Smart Manufacturing program and related courses. You will evaluate student progress and manage the resources of the learning environment. The successful candidate will liaise with industry and other educational institutions; participate in industry advisory committees and coordinate, manage, and supervise final year/capstone projects within the Smart Manufacturing program and interdisciplinary area.
You will be involved in delivering lectures and labs and developing new course material. You will also take part in student advisory , report any technical issue in the labs and classrooms and refer struggling students to student counselling department.
You will keep course portfolio documents required for program periodic review and accreditation processes and engage in curriculum development. The College encourages applications from research-active faculty who will also contribute to the enhancement of applied research and innovation.
Education and Experience Requirements
Faculty members will be placed in the appropriate rank based on their qualification and experience. The broad criteria are noted below.
For Associate Professor and Assistant Professor
- PhD in Engineering with Smart manufacturing from a well recognized, accredited institution.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with smart manufacturing relevance such as Mechatronics/ Automation and or robotics engineering.
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with smart manufacturing relevance such as Mechatronics/ Automation and or robotics engineering. .
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years industrial experience, relevant to manufacturing setting (research and development and /or equipment operation), including ability to operate and maintain CNC, lathe and milling machines, 3D printers (metal and plastic), water jet and laser beam cutting machines, and other additive/subtractive manufacturing techniques.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in academia, demonstrating competence in teaching, curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Research experience with up to date track records of research output in the area relevant to of Mechanical Engineering and/or Manufacturing engineering.
- Understanding pedagogy in the laboratory, simulation, and practicums reflecting on diverse teaching methods, learning activities, and assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of educational technologies and learning platforms.
Scholarship and Research
- Showing good records of academic and research achievements.
- Contribution to the advancement of knowledge through applied research, scholarly activities, publications in Q1 journals, knowledge transfer or professional practice which would be expected to be international in its scope.
- Professional recognition and standing amongst peers.
- Preference given to candidates with demonstrated contribution to curriculum development .
Other required skills
