Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position
Oakland University’s Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) Department has an opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 15, 2021. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a closely related field. Applicants with background in all fields of Industrial and Systems Engineering are encouraged to apply. More important than the specific area of research of the applicant is the ability to initiate and sustain a strong externally funded research program.
The successful candidate will teach ISE courses related to their area of expertise; establish a line of peer-reviewed and externally funded research; advance professional relationships with the industry; and, provide service to the department, school, university, as well as professional organizations in their field. They will also support efforts in student recruitment and retention, continuous academic program refinement, and new program development. Preference will be given to those applicants that will have completed the Ph.D. by the appointment date. The position will remain open and applications will be accepted until filled.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion and provide a statement that describes their interest or efforts in furthering diversity and inclusion, e.g., through mentoring, pedagogy, activism, faculty recruitment/retention, or research on issues related to diversity and social inequality. The dept. offers a B.S.E. in ISE (ABET accredited in both IE and SE), M.S. in ISE, M.S. in Engineering Management, M.S. in Systems Engineering and a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering.
The standard teaching load for engineering faculty is 2 courses per semester and a competitive startup package with course release will be offered. Faculty have access to a large local industry base for joint research and educational projects – including automotive, advanced and digital manufacturing, defense, logistics, energy and healthcare.
