Assistant Professor of Practice, Cybersecurity (NTT)

Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
The School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position in the Department of Computer Science starting in May 2023.

This is a unique opportunity for a faculty position in a great location. University of the Pacific is in central California with quick access to several hubs of technology and science, including Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Sacramento, and the Tri-Valley.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have an earned M.S. or Ph.D. in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Applicants must have knowledge of computer security and its applications. Preferred qualifications include specialization in one or more areas of computer science or computer systems, such as software engineering, mobile, and web application development, secure software development, system programming, computer forensics, applied cryptography, reverse engineering, computer architecture, or networking.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching. Responsibilities will include developing and teaching courses in a new MS in Cybersecurity program, as well as teaching undergraduate courses in computer science or computer engineering. Other duties include mentoring capstone design projects, participation in departmental and university governance, and ongoing professional development. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Physical Requirements:
Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using a computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
