Requirements
A Doctorate (NQF Level 10) in Architecture with at least ten (10) years of lecturing experience at the tertiary education level and/or industry experience or an equivalent combination of relevant professional experience with specialised knowledge in at least three (3) of the following core cluster areas of architecture: Design and Environment, History and Theory, Building Technology, and Professional Practice. Excellent English communication skills (oral and written). Proven competence in successfully sourcing research or project funding from third-party sources, successful initiation and management of research projects, curriculum development, and strong management/ organisational and mentorship skills.
Competence to develop highquality course materials and teach in at least three (3) of the following subjects at both underand postgraduate levels: Architectural Design, Architectural Research Methodology, (advanced) Building Construction, Building Structures, Environmental Technology, Architectural History and Theory, Professional Practice Management, Building Law, Urban Theory and Design. Competence to assume academic leadership, establish professional networks, and maintain links with industry, as well as experience in developing post-graduate programmes. Sound research profile including twenty (20) peer-reviewed journals/books/conference proceedings and successful supervision of at least three (3) Master’s and one (1) Doctoral (research) students. Registration with the Namibian Council for Architects and Quantity Surveyors or another similarly recognised relevant statutory professional body is a requirement.
