Part-Time Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor

The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) at Iowa State University (www.ccee.iastate.edu) invites applications for a part-time term teaching faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor level to teach the senior design-build capstone course. This course is an interdisciplinary capstone course, dual-listed as Civil Engineering Design and Construction Engineering Design. The course focuses on the design process, interacting with the client, identification of the engineering problems, development of a technical proposal, identification of design criteria, cost estimating, planning and scheduling, application of codes and standards, development of feasible alternatives, selection of best alternative, and oral presentations. This course must be taught in- person.
A person holding this faculty position will be responsible for coordinating and teaching a senior capstone design course within the CCEE program and exhibit a commitment to inclusivity and diversity. This part- time term faculty position is a 1/3 to 0.4 full time equivalent, 9-month position for an initial 3-year term with potential for renewal. Term faculty members are not eligible for tenure, but have potential to be reviewed for advancement into senior ranks.
Candidates are expected to have an excellent record of achievement in teaching or engineering practice in civil, construction or environmental engineering or a closely related discipline. Successful candidates will have experience that demonstrates capability for long-term leadership in engineering education. They will also exhibit excellent communication skills and share in our commitment to achieving excellence through diversity and inclusion.

Minimum Required Qualifications
- Candidates for this position must hold a degree(s) in civil, architectural, construction engineering, or related engineering degree.
- Candidates at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank must have a PhD, or a MS plus 3 years of relevant work experience, or a BS degree plus 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Candidates at the Associate Teaching Professor rank must have a record of teaching experience and a PhD plus 5 years of relevant work experience, or a MS degree plus 8 years of relevant work experience, or a BS degree plus 10 years of relevant work experience.
- Candidate at the Full Teaching Professor rank must have a record of teaching experience and a PhD plus 10 years of relevant work experience, or a MS degree plus 13 years of relevant work experience, or a BS degree plus 15 years of relevant work experience.
- Previous teaching experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Evidence of commitment to inclusivity and diversity.
- Professional engineering licensure in the United States, or the ability to become licensed.
- Senior level design and/or management experience.
