The University of Nevada, Reno College of Engineering is seeking a dynamic, career-oriented individual, with demonstrated expertise to teach undergraduate technical communication and first year design courses, which both utilize a project-based learning approach. The Lecturer will also be expected to teach other engineering courses or engage in service activities. This position will be available as early as July 1, 2020. The salary and benefits will be highly competitive. This is a full time (9-month), non-tenure track position that is renewable contingent upon funding.
A MS degree (or MS degree candidates within one year of graduation) in engineering or related field.
Experience teaching college level engineering; demonstration of outreach activities; coaching philosophy; experience building and monitoring student teams; conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in informal and formal teams with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
The College of Engineering consists of five departments. The College offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in engineering and has ABET accredited. Thanks to substantial growth in both student enrollment and tenure-track faculty positions, the College of Engineering is constructing a new engineering building, scheduled to open in 2020. The new building provides both additional space and modern facilities capable of supporting advanced engineering research. This building will allow the College to pursue its strategic vision, serve Nevada and the nation, and educate future generations of engineering professionals. Reno is on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe and its magnificent recreational opportunities, and 4 hours from San Francisco.
