The School of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering (SPSPE) at The University of Akron (UA) seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor rank beginning in Fall 2023. The ideal candidate would develop an internationally recognized research program in the sustainable manufacturing of polymeric materials. Examples of specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, carbon-neutral processing methods, life-cycle assessment, data analytics, chemical modifications, in-situ characterization during manufacturing, and innovative manufacturing methods related to polymeric materials.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants should have earned PhD degree, a record of research accomplishment as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and/or patents, demonstrated ability to teach and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and ability to contribute to UA’s mission on diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Preferred Qualifications:
Post-doctoral and/or industrial experience. A PhD preferably in engineering (polymer, chemical, mechanical, or closely related discipline). The successful applicant will be expected to build an externally funded research program in sustainable manufacturing and contribute to the functioning and growth of the undergraduate and graduate degree programs offered at UA.
Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
