To support the dynamic growth of the field of biomedical engineering, the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at University at Buffalo (UB) has an opening for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor level. We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a team environment and in a diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering is a joint venture between the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) and the Jacob’s School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (JSMBS). Previous University investments in faculty and facilities have enabled the Department to position itself as a key player in the expanding biomedical and biotechnology corridor in the Buffalo-Niagara region.
The department is interested in candidates whose research and expertise overlap with any aspect of biomedical engineering including but not limited to: tissue and cellular engineering; computational medicine; instrumentation; bio-imaging; biomechanics; and neuro-engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, mentor graduate students, advise students at all levels and maintain an active research program. The successful candidate for an Associate Professor or Full Professor position should have a record of scholarly accomplishments, teaching experience and a sustained externally funded research program. Successful candidates will be expected to collaborate with scientists, engineers and clinicians in a multidisciplinary research environment spanning all Schools of the University as well as the Gates Vascular Institute, The Jacobs Institute, the New York State Center for Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Additionally, the newly launched Innovation Hub provide opportunities and resources to commercialize technology and launch new companies.
