Research Assistant Professor in Structural Health Monitoring & AI (Ref. 21011202)

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering enjoys a high reputation in conducting world class research and has well established connections with industry partners and government agencies in Hong Kong. It offers academic programmes at various levels. In addition to PhD and MSc programmes, the Department currently offers 4 undergraduate programmes, namely BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, BEng (Hons) in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development, BEng (Hons) in Structural and Fire Safety Engineering and BSc (Hons) in Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health. The Department currently has about 55 faculty members and 35 technical and administrative personnel, and is committed to international standards of excellence in teaching and research. Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a)     conduct research as the main duty and actively pursue external research grants, such as General Research Fund, as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator in the related areas;

(b)     provide quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level in the related areas;

(c)     co-supervise student projects and theses;

(d)     contribute to departmental service; and

(e)     perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)     have a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering/Computer Science or a related discipline;

(b)     have a strong record of research and scholarship in the area of Structural Health Monitoring & AI;

(c)     be able to conduct independent research in relevant areas; and

(d)     be able to conduct effective classroom teaching.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Appointment will only be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
