The George Washington University has multiple initiatives focused on training the next generation of engineers for advanced technologies. To support these efforts, we are looking for a postdoctoral scholar with expertise in outreach and assessment that can be applied to cutting edge technical fields for professions with substantial needs in workforce training and development. We are seeking candidates in the area of educational program assessment and outreach to support two main projects: (1) a multi-institutional effort that will develop new artificial intelligence technologies designed to promote trust and mitigate risks, while simultaneously empowering and educating the public and (2) another multi-institutional project to create pathways for people to become engineers and scientists with skills relevant for the naval enterprise.

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • has substantial experience in designing, executing, and/or assessing educational or workforce training projects or programs.
  • has expertise in program evaluation methods, for example with the development and application of logic models.
  • is well-versed in impactful theories of change related to education and/or workforce development.
  • has good time management and organizational skills.
  • is a great communicator (written and oral).
  • likes working collaboratively on a multi-faceted team.
  • is enthusiastic about achieving diversification for workforces and STEM disciplines.
  • has a PhD or similar in engineering education, education, human development, or similar.

Located in the heart of urban Washington, DC, the labs and offices supporting these programs are in the state-of-the-art Science & Engineering Hall. We are a short metro ride or drive away from numerous government laboratories and funding agencies. Our Virginia Science & Technology Campus is located in the heart of northern Virginia’s technology corridor.

Interested candidates should initially send a cover letter and CV to sabrinadrass@gwu.edu.
