Position Function: The Department of Agricultural & Biological Engineering at Mississippi State University invites applications for a faculty position (assistant or associate professor) in the area of biological/agricultural engineering. The position will be approximately 50% teaching and 50% research with a tenure track, 9-month appointment. Applicants should have a commitment to excellence in teaching and to making significant contributions in research. Senior applicants should have an established track record of research, teaching, and external funding. Junior applicants should articulate a research program that has promise for external funding, sustainability, and national recognition. The search is open to candidates whose research aims to generate new knowledge at the interface of engineering and biology. The ideal candidate will have research experience and interest in bioprocess engineering, nanobiotechnology, drug delivery, food engineering and safety, biomaterials, biomimetics, biosensors/ bioinstrumentation, precision agriculture or computational modeling of biological systems. Candidates are encouraged to demonstrate the potential for collaboration with faculty from Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems, or the United States Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service. Essential duties and responsibilities: Candidates will be expected to teach in the Agricultural Engineering Technology and Business, Biological Engineering and/or Biomedical Engineering curricula, conduct research, and advise undergraduate and graduate students. They must establish a strong record of research, teaching, and service.

Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Biological Engineering or equivalent in a closely related discipline, as well as excellent verbal and writing skills, are required. Applicant must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, scholarly production, and grantsmanship and should have the ability to conduct multi-disciplinary collaborative research. Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
