An immediate post-doctoral research associate position is available for individuals interested to pursue scholarly research in transportation engineering at Western Kentucky University (WKU), particularly in transportation safety (crash analysis). The position is secured for one year, with the possibility of extension pending satisfactory performance and funding availability. The duties include working on an existing grant sponsored by the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) on evaluating the safety of cable barriers and guardrails, writing scholarly papers for submission to prestigious peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, assisting in writing proposals for external grants, guiding undergraduate and graduate students in their research, and proposing ideas for an existing driving simulator.
The recruited individual will work directly under the supervision of Dr. Kirolos Haleem. Consideration of applications will begin immediately, and the search will remain open until the position is filled. The intended start date is as soon as possible.
The post-doctoral research associate candidate should acquire a Ph.D. degree in civil (transportation) engineering and an M.S. degree in civil engineering (preferably with a transportation engineering focus).
