The University of Dayton Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level specializing in Aerospace Engineering beginning August 16, 2020.
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering offers new faculty an opportunity to join a community deeply committed to their success and to education at all levels. It also encourages collaborations in research and teaching within the department and across the university. Additionally, the Dayton area offers unique opportunities for engineering faculty to collaborate with premier researchers at the Air Force Research Laboratory located at Wright-Patterson AFB, the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI), and/or to engage in city transformative research and teaching.
All applicants must have completed all requirements for their Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a related field by July 1, 2020. All applicants must have effective written communication skills and articulated potential for teaching excellence particularly through employing active and experiential learning pedagogies, and demonstrated scholarly research related to aerospace engineering. To qualify as Associate, candidates must meet all previously specified requirements and have a demonstrated successful record of research, teaching, and service. Interested persons must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, contact information for three references, statement of research, and statement of teaching interests and philosophy. Also, please provide a statement as to how you would promote inclusive excellence through your research, teaching, and service. Other than the cover letter and curriculum vitae, there is a limit of two pages for each of the above items. If the Ph.D. is not completed, the research adviser must include a letter stating that the candidate will complete all requirements by this date.
