The McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering at The University of Tulsa invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching and research interests in the interface of computational data science and reservoir engineering. Topics of interest include, and are not limited to, computational statistics, machine intelligence & learning, uncertainty quantification, high-performance computing and numerical modeling, and their applications to reservoir engineering and management.

Applicants must have an earned PhD in engineering or a related quantitative discipline. The successful candidate must:

  • have a record of, or the ability to develop teaching excellence at the graduate and undergraduate levels,
  • produce high-quality research suitable for publication in prestigious and high-impact journals,
  • develop a funded research program, and/or collaborate within current programs,
  • supervise and mentor M.S. and PhD students, and,
  • have interest in service activity to the institution and profession, including recruitment.

The School currently has 11 full time faculty and 1 instructor, and offers bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees in Petroleum Engineering. Current enrollment includes approximately 192 undergraduate students and 75 graduate students. The School has a strong research tradition with an average research funding of $5 million per year. Our unique research strength is evident from 9 research consortia and JIPs funded by industry with an excellent balance between applied and theoretical research.
The University of Tulsa is a private comprehensive university with approximately 4100 students enrolled in its five academic colleges. The McDougall School of Petroleum Engineering resides administratively within the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences, which consists of five engineering departments, computer science, and four science departments.
