The focus of research will be on characterizing surfaces resulting from ultrasonic impact treatment. The initial appointment is for one year with potential to extend, subject to the availability of funds. A strong background in microstructure characterization is required. Expertise is particularly desired in electron microscopy (TEM, SEM and preferably HRTEM), X-Ray diffraction methods, contact and non-contact profilometry/metrology and mechanical characterization. The candidate is expected to be independent, self-motivated and possess a proven record of high-quality publications. A doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or materials science is preferred.
We will review applications immediately on receipt.
