The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at Montana State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mechanical Engineering Technology at the Assistant Professor level with primary responsibilities in teaching, scholarship and service/outreach. The successful candidate will become an integral part of the program. Duties will include teaching courses focused in mechanical engineering technology, course and curriculum development, participating in scholarly activities, and participating in professional/service activities.
The new faculty member will be expected to contribute to excellence in undergraduate and potentially graduate teaching in the Mechanical Engineering Technology programs, perform scholarly and outreach activities, and provide service to the university, state, and profession. Other responsibilities include advising and mentoring undergraduate students, participation in curriculum development, participation in accreditation activities and committee assignments. We hope to attract applicants who can teach in a diverse University community and have demonstrated ability in helping students from diverse backgrounds succeed.
Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to teach a wide variety of courses within the mechanical engineering spectrum, such as: advanced manufacturing, automation and controls, mechatronics, design for manufacturability, process control, big data in manufacturing, machine learning with applications in manufacturing, thermal systems, HVAC applications and alternative energy applications.
