The Department of Biology and Biomedical Engineering (BBE) at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology seeks candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in Biomedical Engineering to begin August 2025.

By the time of appointment, candidates must hold a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline, preferably biomedical, and show evidence of or demonstrate potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. The ideal candidate will use evidence-based approaches to teach introductory biomedical engineering courses and upper-level electives in their area of expertise. Experience in or enthusiasm for teaching in the capstone design sequence is highly valued. While we encourage candidates in all biomedical engineering related fields to apply, specialization in teaching and research in biomechanics or data mining and data science is preferred.

The biomedical engineering program at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is among the highest quality undergraduate-centered programs in the country. We are committed to employing innovative pedagogy and curriculum design to help undergraduate and Master’s-level students develop practical skills that allow them to be effective in research and industry-based career paths. By providing state-of-the-art learning opportunities in an inclusive and engaging environment, our biomedical engineering program produces leaders in biomedical industries, excellent researchers, and medical professionals. Our curriculum prioritizes hands-on, contextual learning and includes multiple design experiences that culminate in an extended, iterative capstone project. The scholar we hire will be joining a 15-person team responsible for providing undergraduate major programs in Biology and Biomedical Engineering.

Essential job responsibilities include teaching and advising students, continued professional development, and providing service to the department, institute, and professional community. Members of the department are expected to demonstrate sustained intellectual development. Professors of biomedical engineering should exhibit an ability to advance the department's commitment to diversity and inclusion through research, teaching and outreach with relevant programs, goals, and activities. Faculty and staff within the biomedical engineering program are highly collaborative and committed to the Institute’s mission to provide students with the world’s best undergraduate science, engineering, and mathematics education in an environment of individual attention and support.

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is a top undergraduate STEM college. The scenic campus in west-central Indiana is home to 2,200 students with a passion for STEM and learning. Rose-Hulman is consistently listed among the best colleges and universities in the country, including a No. 1 ranking by U.S. News & World Report as the Best Undergraduate Engineering Program for 25 years running. The department and the Institute place a high value on engaging students from traditionally underrepresented groups, and candidates from these groups are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates who can further broaden and enhance the educational experience of our students are also encouraged to apply.

To apply, please submit a cover letter and CV; a statement of teaching philosophy that includes evidence of teaching effectiveness; a statement of your professional development/research goals; a statement regarding your commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and contact information for three references to https://jobs.rose-hulman.edu. Candidates who advance through the initial screening will be asked to submit letters from their references. Review of applications will begin on September 30, 2024, and continue until the position is filled.
