We are searching for an outstanding personality who is excellently experienced in fundamental and application-oriented teaching and research in the field of manufacturing technologies, process and material development of ceramic components and material composites. Interested persons should also work successfully in the field of modeling and simulation, focusing on product and technology development in the digitalized and networked industrial environment with scientific methods and international visibility. The appointment of this professorship is linked with the management of the Institute for Manufacturing Technologies of Ceramic Components and Composites (IFKB).
The established research fields include material, process and manufacturing technologies of high-performance ceramics, additive manufacturing, surface and coating technologies as well as the fur-ther development of material composites and coatings. Focus of application is located in mechanical engineering, in energy and automotive technologies and in biomedical technology.
The professorship is oriented to the interface of material science and materials engineering, process and manufacturing technologies, additive manufacturing technologies as well as applied medical science with a strong multidisciplinarity. Main research focus should be found in product develop-ment with new materials and manufacturing methods with applications in modern mechanical engineer-ing and vehicle manufacturing, technical physics, energy and power management as well as medical technologies. The professorship and institute are embedded in the Stuttgart Center for Manufacturing Technologies (PZS) and the Graduate School of Excellence in advanced Manufacturing Engineering (GsaME).
In teaching, several bachelor courses have to be offered, focusing on manufacturing technologies of ceramic components and material composites, as well as courses for materials in biomedical technologies. In the master program, specific courses in the field of process and component development of high-performance ceramics, composite coatings and surface technologies have to be taught. In teaching the study course "Material und Production Technology" (WPT), special attention should be paid to the development of process models and digitalization technologies.
We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding track record of high-quality and internationally recognized scientific publications. Qualified and substantial experience in important research and development projects as well as leadership and motivation of coworkers is expected, including management experience in R&D of relevant industries.
