The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Utah ( invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in advanced manufacturing, with an anticipated start date in Fall 2022. Candidates will be considered with research expertise in additive manufacturing and fundamental physics governing additive manufacturing processes; intelligent and/or cyber-physical manufacturing systems; data-science enhanced manufacturing; manufacturing systems optimization; manufacturing automation and flexible tooling; and other areas of advanced manufacturing. Exceptional candidates will be considered at the level of associate or full professor.

Candidates must have a demonstrated track record of high-quality research as evidenced by scholarly publications, and they must exhibit strong potential (junior faculty) or an established record (senior faculty) of extramural funding and teaching effectiveness. Successful candidates will be able to actively contribute to the Department’s growing research presence in advanced manufacturing. Additionally, candidates are expected to develop and teach core manufacturing courses in the mechanical engineering program. Applicants are expected to have an earned Ph.D. or Sc.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
