Immediate Opening for Associate Research Scientist with Principal Investigator Prof. Marco Giometto at The Fu Foundation School of Engineering & Applied Science, Department of Civil Engineering & Engineering Mechanics. The successful candidate will conduct leading-edge research in the area of turbulence modeling for hurricane boundary layer flow. The research will be conducted at Columbia University in the city of New York in collaboration with colleagues from world-leading institutions. A competitive salary commensurate with relevant experience and full employee benefits is offered in accordance with the University guidelines. This appointment is for one year and may be renewed pending satisfactory performance and funding availability. Applications will be reviewed immediately and continue until the position is filled. 


  • Background in fluid mechanics and turbulence theory and modeling
  • Proven record in the aforementioned fields (e.g. publications, conference presentations, thesis)
  • Proficiency in computer programming
  • Knowledge in the field of atmospheric science is a plus
