Dr. Pingfeng Wang’s research group in the Department of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking two postdoctoral researchers in the area of engineering design, focusing on computational methods for design and manufacturing of engineering materials and systems under uncertainty.
The post-doc researchers will work on research projects related to complex systems design, physics of failure analysis and design for reliability & failure resilience. The post-doc researcher will have opportunities to collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams, addressing complex system design challenges in several application domains, including battery energy storage, autonomous vehicles, as well as carbon capture and storage systems.
A recently obtained PhD in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, materials science or other relevant engineering fields is required. Research backgrounds in multiscale modeling/ multiphysics simulation, machine learning methods for design & manufacturing, surrogate modeling and uncertainty quantification, or topology optimization would be ideal.
The appointment for both positions will be in the Department of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering for one year, but renewable to a maximum of three years. To apply, please email the CV and up to 3 representative publications to Dr. Pingfeng Wang <pingfeng@illinois.edu> by Jan. 31, 2021.
