The Institute of Institute of Cell Biology and Biophysics invites applications for two positions of a Research Assistant (m/f/d) in the field of Biofabrication for drug testing (Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 50 %) starting 1st August 2023. The positions are limited to 3 years.

Currently, the new research group Biofabrication for Drug Testing is being established under the direction of Prof. Dr. Egger. The aim of the group is to develop innovative cell culture models for drug testing using advanced cell culture technologies (3D cell culture, bioreactors, primary stem cells).

Responsibilities and duties

The scope of duties includes cell culture of primary cells and cell lines, establishment and optimization of new processes for the production of stem cells, stem cell products and in vitro cell/tissue models for drug testing, independent execution and planning of experiments, evaluation of results, preparation of reports, presentation of results at international conferences, writing of publications, assistance in preparation of publications and teaching materials, assistance in research proposals, assistance in conducting seminars/laboratory practicals.

The position is intended to serve the qualification of young scientists, whereby the pursuit of a doctorate is expressly desired.

Employment conditions

The prerequisite for employment is a completed scientific university degree in the field of biotechnology, biology, life science or comparable subjects. Knowledge and practical experience in 3D cell culture, culture of adherent primary cells as well as cell lines, tissue engineering and bioreactor culture are desired. A high degree of independence, personal responsibility and creativity is expected. A good command of English is required.
