The Department of Engineering Technology (ET) at Drexel University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor, effective as early as September 1, 2020. The successful candidate should have Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or in a closely related field, possess a strong background in electronics, renewable energy, and/or robotics and automation and be committed to the education of undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates with industrial and teaching experience are preferred.
Drexel University’s Engineering Technology Department is a leader in the education of engineers who address the technological needs of industry and society. The department prides itself on industrial partnerships, small class sizes, and its use of industrial caliber technologies in a lab-focused curriculum. The faculty specialize in Electrical Engineering and in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and are leading the College of Engineering’s efforts in Robotics and Automation. The department offers ABET/ETAC accredited baccalaureate degrees, Master’s degrees, and customized training for traditional and adult learners.
The successful candidate will contribute to Engineering Technology’s education and research activities in electronics, renewable energy, and in robotics and automation and will be encouraged to collaborate with complementary efforts in the Electrical Engineering and the Mechanical Engineering Departments. This scholar will be expected to develop and teach laboratory-rich courses, advise students on senior design projects, build a research program that complements their educational efforts and publish in professional journals. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach basic and advanced courses in analog, digital, and power electronics; programmable logic controllers; electrical systems design; renewable energy and energy conversion; and robotics and automation. Additionally, the scholar will participate in curriculum development, serve on college committees to maintain and improve the instructional program, and participate in appropriate professional development.
