DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND REAL ESTATE

Assistant Professor in Intelligent Construction (Ref. 240507004)

The Department of Building and Real Estate is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Construction and Environment.  The Department offers a full range of programmes leading to the awards of Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy, Master of Science and Bachelor of Science. It has an undergraduate student body of 550 full-time students and a postgraduate student body of over 450.  The Department currently has a total of 30 full-time academic / teaching staff, 20 technical and administrative staff and over 100 research personnel.  The Department is committed to excellence in teaching, research and service to the community.  Please visit the website at https://www.polyu.edu.hk/bre/ for more information about the Department.

The Department is looking for enthusiastic, established and suitably qualified person with a PhD degree to join the Department to take part in a number of teaching and research activities.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    undertake teaching duties in the areas of Intelligent Construction, Construction Information Technology, Construction Automation and Robotics;

(b)    supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and theses;

(c)    conduct research in related areas and contribute to the development of the Department’s research strengths;

(d)    initiate, lead and participate in scholarly research in their areas of expertise and be active in research leading to quality journal publications and in bidding for external research grants and applied research projects;

(e)    engage in programme / curriculum planning, development and administration;

(f)     undertake relevant administrative duties; and

(g)    undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)    have a PhD degree in Construction Automation and Sensory Technologies or related disciplines;

(b)    have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research;

(c)    have a proven record in research and scholarship achievements; and

(d)    be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills and have good interpersonal skills.

Conditions of Service
