One Ph.D. position is available in the ICON (Innovative Control Of Networked multi-agent systems) Lab., Department of Mechanical Engineering at New Mexico Tech University. The research lies in the areas of microgrid, optimization, multi-agent system, estimation, and control. In the long term, the student will also work on robotics and control. Strong background in mathematics and control theory is a big plus. The students will assist the PI, Dr. Kooktae Lee, in the following topics:
a) fundamental theoretic research on microgrid and multi-agent systems
b) distributed microgrid resource estimation and optimal microgrid network design
c) conducting simulations for verification mainly using MATLAB software

A student involved in this project will be fully supported by an RA position through NM EPSCoR Smart Grid Center funding and/or by a TA position. The anticipated start date is from Spring, 2022 if processed within the time. Considering the limited time for the VISA process, only a student currently staying in the U.S. will be considered.
