The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Vermont (UVM) seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor position in Mechanical Engineering, with an expected start date of no later than August 21, 2023. Candidates are expected to hold a baccalaureate degree and a doctorate in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
The Department is seeking outstanding individuals whose research focus lies at the forefront of robotics and automation, applied broadly but not limited to unmanned vehicles, aerospace, agriculture, biotechnology, human-machine interaction, and manufacturing. The new faculty member is expected to maintain an active program of externally funded research, graduate student advising and contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching within the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The University of Vermont is steadily growing its research enterprise, topping $250 million in research expenditures last year. UVM’s Department of Mechanical Engineering is a very active contributor in this growth thanks to innovative research and a high level of collaboration across campus, nationally and internationally. Applicants who could develop multidisciplinary programs in collaboration with current faculty and research labs and centers, for example, the Spatial Analysis Lab (a member of ASSURE), the Vermont Complex System Center, and the research groups of the Larner College of Medicine, are of interest.
