Visiting Assistant / Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering

The College of Engineering at The University of Akron is inviting applications for a Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor and a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, starting in the Fall semester of 2020. The contract period for these temporary positions is from August 24, 2020 to May 15, 2021, renewable up to 3 years. Candidates must possess a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Appointments at higher rank may be considered, depending on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the mechanical engineering curriculum. We have specific teaching needs in Design (mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems), Robotics and Control, Vibrations/Dynamics, Materials, and Thermal/Fluid Sciences. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record of industrial and/or teaching experience. Ability to establish research collaboration with other faculty members in the Department and College and to attract extramural funding would be considered a valuable additional asset.
