The Advanced Robotics & Mechanism applications (ARMA) lab (http://arma.vuse.vanderbilt.edu) under the supervision of Dr. Nabil Simaan is seeking a post-doctoral research scientist to fill a postdoctoral research assistant position on a multidisciplinary grant involving collaboration between mechanical engineering, computer science, and biomedical engineering. The position is open for immediate hire and we see a highly motivated candidate with expertise in design, mechatronics, and design of haptic interfaces. Knowledge in the areas of machine learning and artificial intelligence is a plus.

- A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering or related fields to robotics
- Experience in integrating robotic systems, design, and mechatronics
- Experience in scientific programming with Matlab and Python or C++.
- Experience with electronics prototyping and basic mechatronics design
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to multitask are essential.
- Interest in medically oriented systems and in applied research for resource-limited healthcare settings.
- Be creative and able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary group with physicians and engineers.

The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers in a rapidly evolving project and ensure the timely completion of the project’s milestones.

The appointment starts as soon as February 1 2023 and is for one academic year.
