The Heldt Bioseparations Laboratory in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Michigan Technological University is creating a continuous bioprocess to create the next generation influenza vaccine and invites candidates to apply for a postdoctoral fellow position. Research will focus on bioprocessing and biophysical characterization of both the process and the viral product. Fundamental biophysics will be an important part of the project. The work is highly collaborative and will provide opportunities to work with biosafety level 2 viral vectors.
A Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related field, is required. The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas: bioprocessing, downstream purification of bioproducts, microfluidics, and AFM. Competitive candidates are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team. The diversity of the team is important and candidates from underrepresented backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Applicants should submit a (1) cover letter describing their research interests, relevant experience, and career goals; (2) current CV; (3) names and contact information of three professional references; and (4) two representative publications and annotations describing the work on the publication performed by the applicant.
