The College of Engineering at The University of Akron is inviting applications for two non-tenure track positions in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, starting in the Fall semester of 2020. One position is for an Assistant Professor of Engineering Practice. This is a non-tenure-track position with a renewable contract term of up to five years upon each renewal. The second position is for a temporary Assistant/Associate Professor of Engineering Practice. The contract period for this temporary position is from August 24, 2020 to May 15, 2021, with possibility of renewal upon availability of funding.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s areas of expertise in mechanical engineering. We have specific teaching needs in Design (mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems), Robotics and Control, CAD/CAM, Materials, and Thermal/Fluid Sciences. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record of industrial and teaching experience. Ability to establish research collaboration with other faculty members in the Department and College and to attract extramural funding would be considered a valuable additional asset for the renewable position. Candidates for both positions must possess a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
