The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Orleans (UNO) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in mechanical engineering. UNO is a public research university located in diverse and cosmopolitan New Orleans, one of the world’s most fascinating cities. UNO offers its diverse student body of 9,000 students more than 60 undergraduate and pre-professional programs and 40 graduate programs. The UNO College of Engineering is unique to the Gulf Coast and plays an important role in the economic development of the region. UNO’s Department of Mechanical Engineering currently serves approximately 350 undergraduate students. In addition to the Bachelor of Science degree, students can earn Master of Science degrees and the Ph.D. degree in engineering and applied science.

Responsibilities
Faculty members are expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate-level courses within their area of expertise as well as other core mechanical engineering courses. Faculty members are expected to develop and maintain an active, externally funded research program. They are expected to advise undergraduate and graduate students; serve on departmental, college, and university committees; participate in professional and public service activities; and develop and maintain an effective working relationship with faculty, staff, students, and administrators.

Required Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.

Desired Qualifications
Prior teaching experience, strong publication record, and ability to secure external research funding. Preference will be given to candidates who possess expertise in thermal/fluid sciences.
