The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Temple University invites applications for a tenure-track (TT) faculty position at the rank of Assistant / Associate Professor in Civil Engineering. For this position, the preferred areas of expertise include: the design and operation of zero/low carbon transportation systems; resiliency and durability of infrastructure systems and materials; and intelligent transportation and traffic control. We especially welcome applicants with a strong background in multi-scale computational modeling, including use of big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other similar research tools.
A successful candidate will have a PhD in Civil Engineering and a record of excellent scholarly accomplishments. Applicants at Associate Professor rank should demonstrate sustained and strong externally funded research, excellent teaching record, and successful student supervision. The successful candidate is expected to develop an active, externally-funded research program, and to teach existing undergraduate and graduate courses in the department, as well as develop new and innovative courses in their specific area of expertise.
Temple University, a Carnegie high research activity (R1) public university and among the largest providers of higher education in the United States, enters its second century strategically positioned to prepare the next generation of engineering professionals. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering continues to play a critical role in that capacity with its vibrant and successful undergraduate, graduate, and research programs. The Department has a number of research sponsors from industry and federal and state agencies. They include the DoD, NSF, various DOTs, PA DEP, PA DCED, EPRI, Philadelphia Water Department, and various Foundations. Two faculty members have received the prestigious NSF CAREER award. The CEE Department also has a master services agreement with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
