The Department of Aerospace, Physics and Space Sciences at the Florida Institute of Technology invites applications for a faculty member to serve as Program Chair of the Flight Test Engineering Program. The Florida Tech Flight Test Engineering program is a Master’s Level degree program that seeks to expand the student’s knowledge, skills and abilities in the field of aircraft flight testing. Florida Tech, a private university located on the Space Coast of Florida, is one of few universities in the world to offer such a degree program. In addition to the Master of Science degree program, a graduate certificate in flight test engineering is also offered to students of related engineering majors. This is a full-time faculty position with an expected start date no later than August 2023. The appointments will be tenure-track and can be considered at any academic ranking including Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor based on experience.
We are interested in candidates with the requisite experience to lead the Flight Test Engineering program and who are committed to teaching at the graduate level while conducting cutting edge, externally funded research in flight test engineering and working with industry in related areas in support of student research. Applicants shall demonstrate a strong technical, research and leadership background in the field, and an ability to teach related flight test engineering coursework. Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field, or a Master of Science degree and additional relevant experience commensurate with the program objectives.
