
Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Electrical and Computer Engineering – Fall 2026
The Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas Austin has a faculty opening with a start date of Fall 2026 for a tenure-track faculty position. Candidates in all areas of electrical and computer engineering will be considered, especially as they align with the strategic focus of the department in: (i) AI/ML, including generative AI foundations and applications ; (ii) AI for systems and systems for AI; (iii) Computer architecture, with a focus on heterogeneous computing systems; (iv) Signal processing, data science, communications and information theory; and (v) Software engineering, with a focus on AI-managed middleware, software generation and applications.
We are particularly interested in candidates who will contribute to supporting our student body through their teaching, research, and service. Successful candidates are also expected to contribute to and benefit from the department's mission and values: be the driving force for education enabling individual student success, scientific discovery, and technical innovation in the service of social good; and be bold, innovative, and collaborative in their aims and endeavors, while valuing, appreciating, and welcoming individuals of all backgrounds and worldviews. Applicants should have received or expect to receive a doctoral degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline prior to August 2026. Successful candidates are expected to mentor graduate students, teach our undergraduate and graduate students, develop an externally sponsored research program, collaborate with other faculty in a wide range of fields, and be involved in service to the university and profession.

Submission of early applications is strongly encouraged. Applications received after November 15, 2025 may not be given equal priority.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, current curriculum vitae, statement of research, statement of teaching philosophy, and a statement describing their mentoring philosophy in both research and teaching. At least three references who will submit original letters of reference should be included.
