The position primarily involves carrying out research, training, and education activities related to additive manufacturing (AM). These activities will include experimental and computational approaches. The experimental approach will be based on but not limited to materials processing and manufacturing using various types of additive manufacturing processes, pre and post AM characterization of materials/components for microstructural and functional properties, in-situ AM process diagnostics and material characterization and/or monitoring. The computational activities will include computational approach for additive manufacturing process design, monitoring, and control and modeling for material evolution. The skills desired for this job also include abilities to interpret experimental and computational results, organization of results, as well as developing appropriate presentation tools for effectively communicating these results. These activities will spread over the sub-areas relevant to AM such as fundamentals of AM, data science and analytics, cybersecurity, logistics & supply chain management that are identified as the thrusts areas within the Center for Agile & Adaptive Additive Manufacturing (CAAAM).
Ph.D. in engineering or physical science or any other field relevant to the AM thrust areas identified and listed above.
