The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Oklahoma State University is pleased to invite applications for two (2) tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor rank or higher. Exceptional candidates in aerospace engineering are encouraged to apply; applicants should have teaching and research interests in an area of aerospace engineering. Successful candidates must have demonstrated potential for developing a strong externally funded research program and for excellent teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. An earned Ph.D. in a field closely aligned to mechanical or aerospace engineering is required, and an earned B.S. degree in aerospace engineering from an ABET accredited or equivalent program is highly preferred. The research areas of the successful applicant must be in a rapidly developing area in which there are strong possibilities for competitive extramural funding. Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in collaborative efforts and multi-disciplinary multi-investigator research programs, particularly aligned with OSU’s Unmanned Systems Research Institute. While all candidates will be considered, the areas of interest include but are not limited to teaching and research expertise in one of the following areas: Unmanned/autonomous systems: computational autonomy/planning, formal methods, AI/ML, space robotics and teleoperations, perception and estimation, data-driven adaptive control, stochastic systems, mobile robotics, and autonomous naval systems; Aerospace Structures: composites, advanced manufacturing & prototyping, space structures, smart structures, and multi-body structural dynamics; Space: space propulsion, orbital mechanics, and satellite dynamics. Oklahoma State University is a comprehensive land grant university with over 24,000 students on its main campus the university and has a strong national presence in interdisciplinary programs including unmanned aircraft systems with strong industry and government ties. Candidates may work closely with the OSU Unmanned Systems Research Institute and other research centers. The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is the largest engineering program in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology and one of the largest departments in the university with more than 1250 undergraduates and 130 graduate students and is home to several large campus research enterprises including the Unmanned Systems Research Institute and New Product Development Center.
