Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Take the next step in your Software Engineering career as you display your strong leadership and progress toward your research goals. This full-time role will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as the supervision of honours, graduate and postgraduate students. As a senior academic leader will be expected to maintain professional associations, establish, and promote collaborations with the industry, and contribute to outreach events.

Salary will be in the range of $103,303 to $135,517 for a Senior Lecturer, or for an Associate Professor is $137,213 to $151,343 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based at our Hillcrest Campus.

We are seeking to grow our Software Engineering department with the addition of a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor who enhances our research strengths, creates engaging teaching experiences, and contributes to our outreach programmes.

You will hold a relevant PhD in Software Engineering and have demonstrated teaching and research experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervision of Masters and Doctoral students. Additionally, experience of leading a team of academic colleagues is strongly preferred as well as a willingness to contribute to both our Hamilton and Tauranga programmes.

Au Reikura - The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Waikato comprises five discipline groups. The Software Engineering group has research strengths in areas such as human-centred computing, internet of things, and software correctness. Software Engineering is closely aligned with the Computer Science programme where we have a strong presence in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. We offer a range of Software Engineering programmes, from the fully accredited Bachelor of Engineering to PhD level.
