Safe Reinforcement Learning for Avionics

Ph.D. Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) position fully funded with stipend and tuition waiver in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at West Virginia University to conduct research on the problem of safe (reinforcement) learning for avionic systems.
  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Conduct innovative research leading to a Ph.D. dissertation in Aerospace Engineering.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • BS or MS degree in mechanical, aerospace, computer science, or the related fields.
    • Strong background in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and control theory.
    • Excellent programming skills in Python or Julia.
    • Strong motivation to conduct research on the intersection of AI and control theory disciplines.
    • Prior research experience on reinforcement learning, data-driven optimization techniques, and/or formal methods is desired.
