Advanced and Sustainable Infrastructure Materials Laboratory (ASIM lab) at the Drexel College of Engineering, Philadelphia, PA is seeking for an outstanding candidate for an open postdoctoral position starting Winter/Spring 2023. Special emphasis is placed on recruiting candidate with expertise in nature-inspired materials science and engineering. Focus is placed on candidates with a demonstrated expertise in cement-based materials advanced manufacturing and characterization using experimental and analytical techniques with experience in managing a fast-paced research group.

The successful candidate will work on applying advanced manufacturing/characterization techniques to enable autonomous functionalities in cementitious materials exposed to dynamic environmental conditions. Additionally, the candidate will help the group to mentor, train, and guide graduate students in performing and publishing research activities.

The candidate will work in the group of Professor Farnam, in a strong collaborative environment with other professors in CAEE, MSE, and MEM departments and students at ASIM lab. More information about ASIM lab can be found at: http://www.asim-lab.com/

Required qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. degree from a reputable university in a topic of relevance (Material Science/Engineering, Civil engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, and/or Chemical Engineering); expertise in cementitious materials and nature-inspired designs is preferred.
  • Previous postdoctoral position is preferred.
  • Strong expertise in advanced materials characterization techniques demonstrated by publication records,
  • An ability to work in an interdisciplinary team,
  • An interest in working in a fast-paced research environment
