About the Department of Engineering and Computer Science:
The Department of Engineering and Computer Science offers undergraduate majors in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, General Engineering, and Information Systems. The computer engineering, electrical engineering and general engineering programs are ABET accredited. The department is part of the College of Arts and Sciences (Division of STEM and Social Sciences). The department’s mission is to equip students with theoretical knowledge and applied skills to create and utilize appropriate engineering and computing solutions. Our aim is to build a supportive Christian community in which students are prepared to become responsible and effective servant-leaders. All programs incorporate a significant hands-on component and include both an internship and a senior team capstone project. The department is committed to recruiting and retaining the best possible Christian faculty, keeping in mind that a diverse faculty will contribute the highest-quality curriculum and instruction, as well as a dynamic and well-rounded learning environment for faculty and students alike.
-Full-time, tenure track, assistant professor position available September 2020. Appointment is in the Department of Engineering and Computer Science.
-Regular nine-month teaching load of about 33 quarter credits, typically including a variety of courses throughout the undergraduate Computer Science curriculum.
-Establish and maintain an active program of research/scholarship.
-Participate actively in the life of the department, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the University.
-Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered.
-Candidates in any specialization will be considered. To complement current faculty interests, candidates with background in cybersecurity, human computer interaction (HCI), or ubiquitous computing will be given some priority.
-Commitment to undergraduate education.
-Evidence of the ability to teach, advise, and mentor under-represented and first-generation students.
-Compatible with University’s ecumenical Christian mission as expressed in SPU’s Statement of Faith.
This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
