The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Wichita State University is pleased to announce the search for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level to start in August 2023 or on a mutually agreed date. We seek candidates who will provide inspiration and leadership in research and are eager to contribute proactively to the inclusive hands-on learning environment that is a hallmark of our educational programs.

While applications from all areas of biomedical engineering will be considered, preference will be given to candidates who complement departmental strengths in mechanobiology, biomechanics, biosensors, robotics, biomaterials, and translational biomedical engineering.

We are interested in outstanding candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship and to a diverse campus climate. Applicants whose technical interests complement and augment the Department’s existing strengths and are well positioned to develop collaborations as part of multidisciplinary research teams are of particular interest. Applicants must be committed to fostering an inclusive environment and promoting the success of underrepresented students. Applicants should have a demonstrated record of excellence in, or show exceptional promise for, high-quality research, teaching, and professional development. In addition, applicants must have a demonstrated record of interest in, and commitment to, the mentorship of students from first generation, underrepresented, and low-income populations. Teaching and service expectations will not exceed those of other faculty positions. A Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related discipline is required at date of hire.

We strongly encourage applications from candidates who will bring diverse perspectives to the College, and who enjoy working side-by-side with students and colleagues from a variety of backgrounds.
