Description
The School of Engineering at the University of Mount Union invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor rank to begin August 1, 2020.

Responsibilities
We seek an educator-scholar with emphasis in geotechnical engineering. The School of Engineering currently offers ABET-accredited programs in civil and mechanical engineering. Newly created programs in biomedical engineering, computer engineering, and electrical engineering will seek ABET accreditation after graduating their first classes in 2022.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate engineering education in a liberal arts setting. Industrial experience is highly desirable, as well. Primary responsibilities include developing the geotechnical engineering curriculum and labs and participating in the ABET accreditation process. Willingness and flexibility to teach in both civil engineering and a variety of introductory and general education courses is desired. Additional responsibilities include advising civil engineering students, industrial outreach leading to student internship and employment opportunities, engaging in professional development and scholarly activity, participation in faculty governance, and service to the greater community. The School is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity in higher education through their teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications
Ph.D. in civil engineering or closely related field. The candidate must be PE licensed in civil or geotechnical engineering, or have the ability to obtain licensure within two years.

Candidates should provide a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy, research plan and contact information for three professional references to the Civil Engineering Search Committee. Electronic applications are required and can be submitted online at http://www.mountunion.edu/employment. Please contact the search committee chair, Dr. Chad Korach, at korachcs@mountunion.edu with any questions. Review of applications will begin December 1, 2019 and continue until the position is filled.

This position is required to complete assigned University compliance training as communicated by the University.
